Regeneration of Athrotaxis Selaginoides and Other Rainf'orest Tree Species on Landslide in Tasmania

چکیده

Seedling surveys indicated that landslide faces provide opportunities for Athrotaxis seialiinoides and Nothr'/m'U" to regenerate in lhamnlc and high altitude callidendrous rainforest. The spatial distribution of mature A. stems at some sites suggests that they have originated on past landslides. Leptospermum scoparium and Eucalyptus vemicosa seedlings were also present at some of the sites investigated. Therefore, landslides may provide regeneration opportunities for these species in rainforest communities in the absence of fire. The physical attributes of A. seiaginoides suggest that the species would be advantaged by canopy disturbance of the scale caused by landslides as opposed to smaller treefal! gaps. The cooler climate, higher levels of slope inslabi.lity, avalanches and snowstorms during the last glacial would have been well suited to this species.

Modern pollen from small hollows reflects Athrotaxis cupressoides density across a wildfire gradient in subalpine forests of the Central Plateau, Tasmania, Australia

Pollen assemblages from 50 small hollows were used to resolve fire-caused vegetation patterns in a ~2-km2 subalpine landscape on the Central Plateau of Tasmania, Australia. Sites were characterized by varying abundance of the dominant tree species, Athrotaxis cupressoides, reflecting mortality from a wildfire that occurred 53 years prior to sampling. Sites were classified a priori based on fire...

Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of dominant tree species and their regeneration status in Arasbaran protected area (Case study: Hoosh, Dinehvar, and Aghamirloo villages)

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of dominant tree species and their regeneration status in the Arasbaran forests. Data were collected by transect sampling and regeneration was assessed by plot with an area 100 m2. In the sample plots, we recorded information on species type, diameter at breast height, height, quality of seedlings ...

Gondwanan conifer clones imperilled by bushfire

Global increases in fire frequency driven by anthropogenic greenhouse emissions and land use change could threaten unique and ancient species by creeping into long-term fire refugia. The perhumid and mountainous western half of Tasmania is a globally important refugium for palaeo-endemic, fire intolerant lineages, especially conifers. Reproductive strategy will be crucial to the resilience of t...

تأثیر شیوه تک‌گزینی بر تنوع زیستی گیاهان چوبی و علفی در جنگل خلیل محله- بهشهر

This study was undertaken to investigate the role of forest management in tree diversity, regeneration and vegetation in control and managed parcels of series No. 1 of forestry plan in Khalil-Mahale, Behshahr. Thirty samples with an area of 1000 m2 were systematically and randomly taken with a 100 × 75 m grid in both parcels. In each plot, tree number and species type were recorded. In order to...

تغییرات مکانی تجدید حیات و تنوع گونه‌های درختی در جنگل‌‌های زاگرس، مطالعه موردی: جنگل‌‌های گهواره در استان کرمانشاه

The regeneration is one of the most important phenomena in forest ecosystems and the most important factor of development and sustainability of forests. Assessment of the regeneration is one of the best criteria for monitoring forest function stability. The aim of this study was to investigate the spatial variability of regeneration diversity and its relationship with tree species diversity in ...
